Lena Mae Gates, 73, of Sweet Water died July 20, 2011 at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1938 in Nanafalia. She was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church and an honorary member of the South Marengo Rescue Squad.
Survivors include two sons, James Gates, Curtis (Kim) Gates, all of Sweet Water; one daughter, Dianne (Gene) Cobb, Sweet Water; one brother, Woodrow (Murray Jean) Jowers, Thomasville; four grandchildren, Rebecca Gates, Kennedy Cobb, Meldoy Cobb, Zachary Cobb; three step-grandchildren, Katie Morgan, Shelby Boddie and Gavin Boddie.
The service was July 23 at 11 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Clifford Moore and Aaron Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water.
Active pallbearers were Gene Cobb, Kennedy Cobb, Jerry Huckabee Sr., John Robertson, Benny Clay Jowers and James Jowers.
 Honorary pallbearers were the Men of the Old Union Baptist Church.
