Vivian Gray Milstead, 83, of Jackson passed away Sept. 28, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center.

He was born April 26, 1934 to Lewis Vivian Gray Milstead and Maude Leonard Milstead. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson. He was a longtime member of the Wesley Bible Class. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Cold War era in Germany. He had been employed for 42 years at Ciba Geigy in the I&E department and worked as a contractor for several industries after retirement. He was a founding member of the Credit Union at Geigy and served on its supervisory committee. He also loved hunting and fishing and earned numerous awards for both.

Survivors include his son, Ashley Gray Milstead.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of more than 50 years, Betty Daugherty Milstead; infant daughter, Angela Milstead and sisters, Mittie ( John) Gill and Mabel (Leroy) Whitehead.

The service was Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jackson with Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Tom Walker, Wendell Woodson, Ryan Pezent, Chuck Whitehead, David Gill and Darron Gill.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Volunteer Fire Department and the coffee drinkers at the drug store.
