William Don West, 58, of Grove Hill died Sept. 28, 2017.

He was a native of Alabama. He graduated from Fruitdale High School in 1977. Don worked over 32 years at St. Regis in Citronelle as a relief supervisor chip and saw operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and was an avid outdoorsman. Don was a warm, compassionate, caring, “good ole country boy.” He was an avid Alabama fan and loved pulling pranks on folks. Don was a proud grandfather and his grandchildren called him “Paw- Paw.”

Survivors include his wife of over 34 years, Betsy Schultz West, Grove Hill; three sons, Jeffery (Ann Marie) West, Corey (Shelby) West, Timothy ( Jessica) Bates, all of Grove Hill; four brothers, Vondale West, Fairhope, McArthur (Charlotte) West, William (Pam) West, all of Citronelle, Mitchell (Iris) West, Lucedale, Miss.; six grandchildren, Cole West, Katy Grace West, Danny West, Danny Bates, Addison Bates and Aiden Bates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil George and Irene Landrum West; sisters, Nelda Douglas, Norma Jean Terrell; and a brother, Buddy West.

The service was Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. at Jones Chapel in the Perry’s Chapel community with Bro. Benny Crawford with special speaker, Brittany Johnson officiating. Interment was at Magnolia Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were David Powell, Sam Allday, Tim Schultz, Tim Richardson, Wesley Richardson and Heath Horton.

Honorary pallbearers were Austin Allday, Dennis Haskew, John Henderson, Mike Henderson, Greg West and Keith West.
