James Harding Morgan Sr., 73, of Jackson died Nov. 5, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center .

He was born July 25, 1944 to the late Glover and Minnie Lou Morgan in Coffeeville. He was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church. He worked for Boise Cascade for 46 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved Alabama football. He would have celebrated 50 years as a member of the Masonic Lodge 226 this year.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce H. Morgan, Jackson; children, Brenda Morgan (Ray) Smith, Candy Morgan (Mark) Frazier, Jamie Morgan (Michael) Shoultz, James Harding “J.R.” (Margaret) Morgan Jr., all of Jackson; sister, Yvonne (Bruce) Mathers, Coffeeville; grandchildren, Morgan Clements, Hannah McVay, Victor Tipper, Victoria Tucker, Chipper Tucker, James Harding “Trey” Morgan III, Ella Morgan, Cooper Shoultz, Ryan Smith, Austin Smith; great-grandchildren, Travis Clements, Maddox Tipper, Tipper Clements and Hammond McVay.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willie Earl Morgan.

The service was Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Bro. Nicholas Hughes officiating. Interment was in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Victor Tipper, Chipper Tucker, James Harding “Trey” Morgan III, Michael Shoultz, Mark Frazier, Michael Clements, Jimmy Atchison and Cooper Shoultz.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge #226.
