Lillie Bell Crayton Roberts, 86, of Jackson answered the Master’s call on the morning of Nov. 9, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1931 to Leroy and Rosie Lee Crayton.

Lillie joined Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.L. Williams, attending faithfully until her health failed. She was employed as a domestic for many years, working later with Billy’s Burger House and then Jackson Medical Center in housekeeping until retiring.

Lillie enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Young and the Restless, Bold and Beautiful, Steve Harvey and cooking shows. She also enjoyed knitting before her health began to fail.

Left to cherish her memories are her seven daughters, Ella Wese (Steve) Perine, Ellenwood, Ga., Ella Mae (Eugene) Scruggs of Jackson, Lucille Moore of Detroit, Mich., Janice (Ronnie) Kail of Clarksville, Tenn., Angela (Ivan) Irizarry of Daytona Beach, Fla., Mary Roberts of Gulf Port, Miss., and Anissa Abston of Jackson; two sons, Allen Roberts Jr. of Jackson and Johnny (Apriella) Roberts of Alexandria, La.; her sister, Edna Crayton of Jackson; 15 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, two close, Dorothy Catching of Moss Point, Miss., and Cynthia McNeil of Saraland; and special friend, Martha Parker of Jackson.

Preceding her death in addition to her parents was her husband, Allen “Tampa Red” Roberts Sr.; son, Albert Lee Roberts; grandson, Kevin Scruggs; and sisters, Fannie Jones and Sarah Crayton.

Public viewing will be Friday, Nov. 17, from 1 until 5 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home at 203 East Ross Street in Jackson. The Service will be Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 at 105 Griffin Street in Jackson with Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis, pastor, as officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.
