Minister Robert Henry Ambrose, 62, departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017.

He was born Jan. 31, 1955 to the late Lucille Ambrose McIntyre and Robert Pilgram of Mobile. He was raised in Manila by his grandparents, Bob Henry and Mamie Nicholson, who preceded him in death.

Imbedded with a spiritual upbringing, Robert gave his life to Christ at an early age. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1972 and as part of his duty to his country he served in the United States Army. He attended seminary at Selma University in Selma. He was ordained a deacon on April 27, 2014 and was soon given additional duties from God, as he preached his initial sermon seven months later on Nov. 9, 2017.

Robert leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Agnes Ambrose; two sons, Robert Westry of Florida and Shamri Ambrose of California; one daughter, Lauren Hunt, Marietta, Ga.; brother Jessie (Rebecca) Ambrose, Mobile; two sisters, Mamie Frowner, Mobile and Mary Alice (Mack) Frowner, Manila; one granddaughter, Alaiyah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Rose Ambrose.

The service was Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Jimmy Snell, pastor, as officiating minister. Interment was in the Rhoden-Hannon Cemetery in Manila.
