Billy Wesley Black, 79, of Bermuda, passed away Jan. 4, 2018 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 31, 1938 in Clarke County. He had been a resident of Conecuh County and moved to Monroe County in 1985. He was a member of Owens Chapel Methodist Church. Mr. Black worked with Stallworth Timber Company in Beatrice as a plant manager for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Merle Black, Bermuda; one son, Billy Wayne (Angie) Black, Monroeville; two daughters, Cathy (George) Busby, Trisha (Randy) Booker, all of Bermuda; one brother, Mabry Black, Excel; three sisters, Jewel Motes, Mary Calvert, Elizabeth (Carl) Divine, all of Mobile; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Black and Viola Gertrude Black; his brother, Charles Black and two infant brothers.  

A memorial service was Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Owens Chapel Methodist Church with Revs. Buddy Williams and Marg Perelli officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pilots for Christ, Monroe Health Foundation or Owens Chapel Methodist Church.
