Robert Lee Grimes, 87, passed away Jan. 26, 2018 in Washington County Nursing Home.

Mr. Grimes was born April 1, 1930 to the late Joseph Turner and Grace Marshall Grimes. He was a member of Midway Methodist Church. Mr. Grimes had sung with the Journeyman Quartet and the Gospel Echos. He was a state turkey calling champion and a member of the Gideons, St. Stephens Historical Society and the Washington County Hospital Board. Mr. Grimes had also worked a mail route for 57 years.

Survivors include his son, Randy (Terri) Grimes; daughters, Judy (Holland) Reeves, Joey (Billi) Blount, Jamey (Earl) Greer; brother, John A. Grimes; sister, Jimmie Dell Moseley; grandchildren, Amanda (Casey) Moats, John (Brittany) Mason Jr., Chris (Ashley) Blount, Will Blount, Katie (Gary) Neidhardt, Robby (Rachel) Greer, Hannah Grimes; step-grandchildren, Kenny (Sissy) Reeves, Linda (Bobby) Brooks; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Grimes is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lola Reynolds.

The service was Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Mark Dees and Bro. Steve Mason officiating. Interment was in the Midway Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Tommy Johnson, Bobby Moseley, Neal Grimes, Nathan Welborn, Daryl Batley, Mel Moseley, Gary Goldman and Terry Raybon.
