Ruthie Mae Campbell Brown, 79, of Jackson made her earthly transition in the early morning of Feb. 27, 2018 at Jackson Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 6, 1939 to Jerry Lee Sr. and Daisy Johnson Campbell.

Ruthie and her husband, Walter, returned to Jackson after residing in California for 28 years. She loved working in her yard and having beautiful flowers and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 50 years, Walter Brown Sr., Jackson; five daughters, Annie Campbell, Jackie Shirazi and Daisy Brown, all of Jackson, Mechelle Brown, Vallejo, Calif., Latonya Harold, Fayetteville, N.C., and Danicca Simmon Herring, West Palm Beach, Fla.; son, Kenneth Brown, Jackson; three sisters, Velma Robinson, Hattie Bell Mitchell and Nancy Chapman, all of Jackson; with 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Walter Brown Jr.; sister, Caroline Campbell Baldwin; and brother, Jerry Lee Campbell Jr.

The service was March 6 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis, pastor, as officiating minister. Interment was in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
