2018-05-17 / Obituaries

Earl Moore Sr., 85, a native and resident of Walker Springs, answered the Master’s call on May 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 18, 1932 to Mose and Corine Scott Moore. He was a faithful and devoted member of the St. Luke Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Board of Deacons and sang in the Male Chorus. He also worked faithfully wherever needed.

He was employed at Boise for 28 years prior to retiring. Visiting the sick regularly, Earl was truly a people person. He loved to fish, but spending time with his family was the most important thing in his life.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Carrie Jackson Moore, Walker Springs; two sons, Earl (Sandra) Moore Jr., Savannah, Ga., and Derrick (Keedra) Moore, Walker Springs; eight grandchildren; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, his son, Terrance Moore Sr.; four brothers, Clarence Hannon, Mose Moore II, William Moore and Clifton Moore Sr.; two sisters, Mattie Lynum and Lois Nicholson.

The service was May 10 at the 12-noon homegoing celebration at St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs with Rev. Garry Jackson, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Hotel Hill Cemetery.
